Summary / Role Purpose

​The Mechanical Simulation Engineer plays a critical role in supporting our customers in the areas of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD). Also known as an Application Engineer (AE), this role is designed to work alongside the Business Development team to develop solutions for customers in the area of Computational Modeling and Mechanical Engineering by means of industry best practices. The successful AE exhibits proactive engagement with both potential and existing customers to deliver simulation solutions in the form of software licensing, technical consulting/training services. The AE is both an individual contributor and a team player, by being organized, self-motivated, highly communicative, and collaborative. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Mechanical Analysis (Structural & Thermal) Services to customers. Support sales and training efforts.
  • Provide Technical Support to customers as needed (software deployment, licensing administrative, scripting/automation/customization, etc.).
  • Researching and examining current and new Computational Physics Applications, Processes, and Technologies.
  • Designing, building, and delivering Technical Demonstrations and Custom Training.
  • Liaising with software suppliers for both pre- and post-deployment activities.
  • Travel: 5 - 25%

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Degree in Computing, Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment.​
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience with Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Database software.
  • Proven experience with 3D CAD Modeling Software (CATIA, Creo, Inventor, NX, Solidworks, etc.).
  • Proven experience with Structural CAE Software (Ansys preferred; Abaqus, Nastran, etc. acceptable).
  • Mandatory Skills: Structural Statics & Dynamics (Shock/Vibe, Harmonics, PSD, etc.).
  • Clear, concise, and effective communicator, and able to listen and take training/feedback with a positive approach.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Industry Hands-On Experience: Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics Manufacturing
  • Desired Skills: Viscoelastic/Hyperelastic Material Modeling, Thermal Stress, Nonlinear Contact, Mechanism Design.
  • Bonus Skills: Explicit/Drop/Crash, CFD/FSI/SPH, Electro-Mechanical coupling.
  • Experience in Ansys Parametric Design Language (APDL), Python, C/C++, or other various Macro/Scripting languages a plus.
  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing and Topology Optimization Algorithms is a plus.
  • Well-organized, self-directed team player. ​
  • Good time management and analytical skills.
  • Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
