Overview: Determine the maximum weight that this Engine Hoist can lift before it fails.

Within Creo Parametric:

  • Remove the “Off the Shelf” Components
  • Utilize Symmetry
  • Set Material Properties
  • Clean up Joints, and Check for Interference

Now, within Creo Simulate:

  • Visualize the Load Path
  • Manage Interfaces
  • Use rigid links for the hydraulic jack
  • Add the Proper Loads and  Constraints

Next:

  • Start with a max element size of 40 mm on all components
  • Troubleshoot all mesh errors
  • Run both a static structural and a buckling analysis.
  • Review the results of both, and identify the Areas of Interest.

Next:

  • Can the model be updated to be more efficient?
    • Leverage St. Venant’s Principle
    • Sub-Model as needed to get detail
